From I to We!
Jul 11, 2023Attention Australian solo entrepreneurs! Are you ready to take your business to the next level and grow your team? It's time to discover why HR support is crucial, even at this solopreneur stage. Building a solid foundation through human resources is the key to unlocking success and realising the full potential of your business.
I get it, you're wearing multiple hats as the bookkeeper, social media manager, copywriter, admin guru, accountant, HR person, and customer service representative. It feels like there's no time to breathe, let alone plan for future growth. Trust me, I've been there too. But here's the thing: now is the perfect time to focus on scaling your business.
The journey of growth often begins by outsourcing tasks that don't align with your passions. Take my own experience with social media. While I loved creating engaging content to educate and connect with my audience, I despised the time-consuming task of scheduling posts. So, I made a game-changing decision and brought in an independent contractor, Kate. She joined my team as my social media expert, ensuring my posts had impeccable spelling, stunning images, and were scheduled flawlessly. By outsourcing the tasks I loathed, I regained time and energy to focus on money-generating aspects of my business.
By adopting this approach, you too can spend more time on what matters most while letting experts handle the rest. Engaging subcontractors or service providers can be a game-changer, but how do you do it right?
To subcontract or fully outsource?
There are two ways to go about it. First, you can bring a person into your business as a subcontractor. You'll have more control over the process, delegate tasks as needed, and manage the subcontractor along the way. This option allows you to start creating processes and policies that lay the foundation for future employees.
Alternatively, you can fully outsource the service. In this case, you hand over the reins to a trusted service provider who delivers the agreed-upon outcomes. You maintain control over how things appear, ensuring they reflect your brand, and determine the frequency, all within the parameters set in your client service agreement. This option takes some stress off your plate, especially if you've carefully chosen the right service provider.
How is this HR related?
Now, you might be wondering, how does all of this relate to HR? Well, these decisions mark your first steps toward building a team. Remember the saying, "There's no 'I' in team"? That little 'I' represents the solo aspect. If you dream of making a significant impact in your business, you can't do it alone. It's time to shift from "I" to "we" and embrace the power of a united team.
